Application Details for Students in Poland

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program in Poland is a unique program that provides financial support and skills development opportunities for accomplished second-year undergraduate students from recognized institutions who are pursuing degrees in the fields of economics, management, engineering or technology at the specific universities listed below.

Why Apply?

  • Annual USD 2,000 scholarship for up to two years (depending on course of study*)
  • A possibility to “shadow” a GE business leader
  • Participation in GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders activities, including a specially designed leadership development seminar
  • Participation in community service projects

*Note: Please include in your application whether you intend to continue your studies in a Master’s program after finishing the Bachelor level. You can apply even if you do not plan to continue your studies after you have finished the Bachelor level, however, you will receive only one year of funding.

Who Can Apply?

Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria described below will be considered for the award competition. Please read carefully.

Students must be attending the following institutions to be eligible to apply:

  1. Gdansk University of Technology
  2. Lodz University of Technology
  3. Rzeszow University of Technology
  4. Warsaw University of Technology
  5. Wroclaw University of Technology

Further Requirements Include:

  • High academic standards, as demonstrated by grades received in the first two semesters of your university studies. (In order to continue receiving the annual financial award, you will be expected to maintain these high standards for the duration of this scholarship.)
  • Strong oral and written English language skills
  • Full-time student status
  • Currently pursuing a degree in the field of economics, management, engineering or technology
  • Currently pursuing your first undergraduate degree*

*Note: Please include in your application whether you intend to continue your studies in a Master’s program after finishing the Bachelor level. You can apply even if you do not plan to continue your studies after you have finished the Bachelor level, however, you will receive only one year of funding.

First undergraduate degree means that you cannot have a university degree at the time of the application, until the end of the 2015–16 academic year, either from the same university or from any other university.

How to Apply?

If you satisfy all eligibility criteria outlined above, click on the link at the bottom of the page and complete the online application. The application form including essay must be submitted online by 11:59pm EST on February 26, 2016, including uploading the requested supporting documents. All Supporting Documentation must be posted by February 26, 2016 to:

Supporting Documentation – In addition to your application form, and two letters of recommendation (submitted electronically in the online system), the following documentation is required:

  1. Certification Page with original signature (downloaded from online application)
  2. A 1000-word essay (part of the application form)
  3. A curriculum vitae
  4. First two semesters university results (if available) – official copy, may be sent directly by university
  5. Certificate of enrollment from the university you are applying from, verifying that you are enrolled as a full time student at this institution for the academic year 2015–16, issued by the registrar or a similar office.

Applicants must submit one complete hard copy of the application by post, in addition to submitting the application and the specifies supporting documents electronically.

English translations must accompany any documents not in English. Unofficial translations are accepted.

Applications must be postmarked no later than February 26, 2016.

Incomplete application materials or application materials postmarked after February 26, 2016 will not be considered. Application materials will not be returned to applicants.

What is the Selection Procedure?

A selection committee will evaluate all applications. Each applicant’s motivation and academic and leadership potential will be assessed. The selection committee will select semifinalists, who will be invited to a personal interview with a selection panel in April. You will be informed in May 2016 about the success of your application. Selection decisions are final. There is no appeal process.
